From This... *impromtu*... Moment

I have to admit that I'd always pretty much figured her dad would sing at her wedding. Perhaps "Butterfly Kisses" or maybe even something a little bit less cheezy. I'd let them decide. Whatever... it would be would be awesome cause he can sing pretty much anything.

Then one day I heard Clay Aiken sing "I Will Be There"... and all of a sudden I began fantasizing about HIM... *g*

Actually, the truth is, not only did I fantasize about him SINGING at her wedding, but for a time, in my delusions, I even imagined him being an intregal member of the wedding party...

It would be a beautiful wedding... straight out of a fairy tale... a Prince and Princessy, "Happily Ever After" sort of thing. Oh yeah, and Daryn and Quiana would be the bridesmaids and they would, of course, sing as well. The father of the bride would accompany them on the piano and provide us with a song or two of his own. And, well basically, there'd just be tons of singing... duets, quartets... group numbers!... a whole program of it.

And all the while, the mother of the bride would be there to capture it all on her cr*ppy little camera...

You think I'm kidding? Of course I am sort of.

In reality?..

  • My daughter found her OWN prince, without any help from me at all (and with only a teeny tiny bit of help from her sister. *winks at Daryn*) And a definitive Prince he is!

  • Quiana ended up having a prior commitment... along with a brand new baby due any day...

  • Clay Aiken, as it turns out, was in sequestration that whole weekend... preparing for some big, mysterious moment of "shock and awe"...

  • And in all the excitement of getting ready for the big day we somehow forgot about "the wedding singer" piece.

So a couple of days beforehand I asked Daryn if she wouldn't mind helping out and she said that she guessed she would... if she was forced to. But knowing her, I knew she'd come to bat. Plus, I knew there'd be a piano in the room and that their dad would be there, of course, so I didn't worry about it too much.

As it turned out, it was perfect. Exactly the way I would have ever really wanted it to be.

The only thing that DID hold true from my fantasy was the fact that I still had that cr*ppy little camera.

Oh, and then there was the "Happily Ever After" part...
