Blame it on my iPod I guess, which is sitting right next to me on my right, right now. The battery?... dead as a doornail...(though I have never quite understood that idiom.)
I discovered it about a week ago while driving in my car and, after tuning in for less than a minute to my local radio station, opted to push the "CD" button instead.
I have one of those "suitcase" thingies in my trunk. I'm not talking the kind of suitcase that has been known to take up housekeeping in my trunk for weeks on end. Ya know?... the kind that is known to hold more Clack than clothing?... But just one of those CD things that holds six of those little "circular" things.
Anyway, I hadn't given it the time of day since my iPod Christmas last... December? So, unsurprisingly, the sounds that strummed their sweet chords into my eardrums took me back. I had forgotten that I'd burned 12 different versions of "Emmanuel!"
I loved Jacob Luttrell's version. It was one of the moments I would wait for during those blessed cellcerts of last... November. **note to self: Call Bill Gates to ask why the word "cellcert" is still making a squiggly underline in my Word doc.**
I will never, EVER forget the night that I was listening in and said to myself, "Wow! Jacob is so ON tonight!"... and then hearing the perplexing news... which still perplexes me.
But I DID enjoy Jacob's version and I think I may have even expressed a time or two in the olden days that I actually preferred his. ** dodges fruits and veggies** He DOES have an undeniable talent.
But then...
These past few days, listening to Clay sing it? And watching him sing it? And feeling him sing it?
I don't know any better words to describe these performances other than "Sheer Beauty." Even "Raw" at times. I seriously cannot comprehend how one human being could be so breathtakingly... please somebody help me find the perfect word to insert here!
Anyway, I've chosen a few videos to share. I can take absolutely no credit for them except for the simple fact that I've chosen to put them here... and made the title pages. *g* I wish I would have been able to have picked just one, but that was impossible. They are each so "the same" and yet each so incredibly "their own."
And not to be sacrilegious or anything, but there ARE three...
So sit back... relax. And REJOICE.
